Nora Sarkissian

Writer/Performance Artist

This year I have taken on the Momentum project. Even though I’ve spent the past 25 years as artist/teacher in the visual arts. The project has manifested itself in the form of a writing called, “Conversations with a Wolf”, A Fairy Tale, or Life’s Chronicles. This project will be lived out  through the support of the Momentum community.  It is a project that came together quickly. Through  the memory I had of my grandfather who was a writer, storyteller, political activist, teacher & more, in his native  Armenia. The project seemed to combust with the memory of my grandfather along with the humor, comfort and delight I shared as a child, through listening to his fairy tales. He also wrote them. Hence, I had a big kinship with fairy tale, in any way shape or form.

decided to allow myself to write one, that there was this ancestral connection in conjunction with my love of fairy tales & metaphor.  I see the underlying messages and lessons through the metaphor of the stories, as the images and characters become the story of our lives.  This has become a delightful mirror for lifes strange amenities, occurances and continued challenges.    I have written for many years, but I never focused on one project.  So this year will be the year I focus on my writing.   Sound, movement, dialogue may also be incorporated.  I realized at the moment I decided to allow myself to write one, that there was this ancestral connection in conjunction with my love of fairy tales & metaphor.
